A fundraiser and then a pig roast...

The Gray-New Gloucester girls softball team won the state championship last night and now have a chance win the regionals in CT. They have six days to come up with the money (not a small sum!) to get there. They will be at the New Gloucester Community Market this Sunday asking for your help. After the market join us for a delicious pig-roast dinner with all the fixings from 4-8 p.m. at the gazebo at Thompson’s Orchard located on Gloucester Hill Road in New Gloucester. Tickets will be available at the door. So bring your appetite and your wallet!

Sunday, July 18 the New Gloucester Community Market will once again host the Maine Cooperative Extension’s Master Preservers as they teach a class on how to make and preserve salsa. The workshop starts at 1p.m., don’t forget to bring a chair! You’ll also be able to buy all your needed salsa ingredients at the market with the new additions of Jillson’s Farm and Sugarhouse, Chipman’s Farm and Dancing Cricket Farm.

New website: Although we are not Portland, many of you might be interested in a new website recently launched by the non-profit, Creative Portland Corporation. The website, liveworkportland.org states that its “goal is to add 10,000 creative people to the Portland population over the next five years.”

This Saturday is the last day of the “Maine Festival of American Music: Its Roots and Traditions” at the Shaker Village, call 926-4597 for more information. There is also a woodcarving class offered on Saturday as well.
