June 26/27
Greetings,
New website: Although we are not Portland, many of you might be interested in a new website recently launched by the non-profit, Creative Portland Corporation. The website, liveworkportland.org states that its “goal is to add 10,000 creative people to the Portland population over the next five years.”
This Saturday is the last day of the “Maine Festival of American Music: Its Roots and Traditions” at the Shaker Village, call 926-4597 for more information. There is also a woodcarving class offered on Saturday as well.
The Community Garden at Opportunity Farm is looking great, swing by and check it out anytime, dawn till dusk- seven day a week. Volunteers are always needed for the food pantry portion of the garden as well. Anyone interested in helping out can contact Bob Fowler at bobfowler@maine.rr.com or Laura Campbell at 926-5919.
You’re heard of Master Gardeners, right? Now meet the Master Preservers! These folks know just about everything when it comes to food preservation and they’ll be at the New Gloucester Community Market this Sunday teaching us how to make Strawberry Jam. Vendors will be offering special discounts to those who attend the demo as well. And of course we’ll have plenty of strawberries for sale too! The class starts at 1 p.m.—don’t forget to bring a chair!
Hope to see you all this weekend,
Laura
