NEW! Basil: Growing & Using the King of the Herb Garden
Saturday, 10 AM - 1 PM at Shaker Village
Instructor: Betsey-Ann Golon
Learn about the many varieties of basil, growth tips, harvesting for fresh and dried use. The workshop will enjoy tasting a bounty of sample recipes and each person will leave with recipes and basil from the Shaker gardens.

Chair Caning (Class 2)
Saturday, 9 AM - 4 PM; Instructor: Fran Faulkner
Learn the 7-step method of chair caning. Bring a chair of your own that is clean and sound. The class is restricted to hand woven chairs (the chairs can be identified by the hole drilled through the seat and/or back for the weaving of the cane). Supplies will be provided to get you started on your first chair. Take special note to bring hand woven chair. Fran will be available the following Saturday, August 22 from 9 AM - 12 Noon for those needing more guidance.

Woodworking: Drawer Construction
Saturday, 9 AM - 12 Noon (session 1) OR 1 PM - 4 PM (session 2);
Instructor: Chris Becksvoort
Basic hand-dovetailed drawer construction will be demonstrated. Participants will practice layout, grooving, through dovetails and half-blind dovetails. Materials will be provided. Please bring a pencil, square, marking knife, T-bevel (or dovetail gauge), dovetail saw, chisels, mallet, block plane and clamps if you have them. Important Note: choose session 1 or session 2 when registering.
