Freedom Basket Workshop

A little late for the Glorious Fourth, but fun anyway! Multi-colored reed basket is big enough for mail, hangs from a wooden bushel handle and features a handmade pottery star tied on the front. For beginners and intermediates. Materials provided - dyed reed, handle, pottery star.

Concert: Kindling Stone
Kindling Stone's third venture into Maine and their third visit to the Shaker Meetinghouse follows last year's successful release of their first CD. Chris Moore and Mark Wingate, otherwise known as Kindling Stone, will bring their instrumental/vocal uniqueness to Shaker Village - their music is contemporary and original yet rooted in rich musical traditions including the Shaker heritage. Join us on Saturday, July 25 at 7 PM for a return of two talented musicians.

Beads Woven From Paper
Saturday, 9:30 AM - 12 Noon at Shaker Village
Instructor: Dolores Broberg
Using some elementary basketry techniques, participants will transform strips of paper into attractive beads for jewelry making and ornaments. Learn how to prepare the materials, how to weave the beads and what to do with them once you've got them. Bring scissors suitable for paper cutting, glue stick, hair spray or nail polishes can be useful if you have them. All other materials will be provided.

NEW! Basil: Growing & Using the King of the Herb Garden

Learn about the many varieties of basil, growth tips, harvesting for fresh and dried use. The workshop will enjoy tasting a bounty of sample recipes and each person will leave with recipes and basil from the Shaker gardens.
